I've been researching the AK 47 and came across the WASR 10; can anybody give me some info on the main difference? How reliable are they? I know they are Romanian and not Russian but I just want a decent rifle thats not too expensive.

All Ak-47 platforms are known for reliability, whether Russian, or Romanian I own a WARS-10/63 and I have never had a jam due to the gun. No Failures to feed/eject none of that after about 1800 rounds, however some of the ammo may fail because of its age and bad primers and things like that but that has nothing to do with the gun itself.. What you want to look for in a good WASR, is make sure your sights line up correctly, if it does not your gun will never shoot to it's designed accuracy. WASR's are know for having magazine wobble at least a little bit, some are worse than others so try it out with a steel magazine, that is one reason a lot of people don't like them. To me that is minor I've never heard magazine wobble while firing. However even with magazine wobble it still shoots reliably, and you don't hear it when your shooting. Another thing is on older WARS's the trigger will sometimes slap your finger, so make sure it has a Tapco G2 trigger, its imprinted on the side of the trigger to let you know. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.

The WASR 10 is a perfect rifle for the new gun owner. It has a few flaws (cosmetic and otherwise), but will serve you admirably. Also, with a little TLC, it can look like this:

I have been debating on getting an AK as well. The prices are so cheap I cant think of any real reason not to. I found this spot in Convington, GA that has some for pretty good prices too

I believe that the WASR-10 will serve you well & at a reasonable price. One thing you might want to do if you order this rifle is to give it a thorough cleaning before test-firing (there have been reports of these rifles being packed in heavy gun grease). Another reasonably price AK platform rifle is the Inter Ordnance Tech (IO Tech) product. This is an American company that makes AK's & has received good reviews so far. If you're thinking about buying a rifle online, try this website: www.budsgunshop.com. Good luck in your decision!
