Hey everyone...I'm in the market for a new carry weapon and after doing my research I pretty much narrowed my choices down to the Glock 26 and the M&P9 Compact (I'd like to stay with the 9MM round as my HD weapon is a 9mm as well but I won't turn away a great deal on a .40 cal :)

However, I am curious about the new Ruger SR9 compact. I've heard about a few issues with the full size version including barrel peening and a very long trigger pull, but for the price (around $400-450) and the reputation that Ruger makes quality firearms, I think its worth something to look into. Right now, with the compact just being released it'll be pretty difficult for me to rent them. So I would like to ask my fellow BGO members, would you wait awhile until the aftermarket starts supporting the new model or take the plunge? This little extra bread that I have is really starting to burn a hole in my pocket!!! LOL

You might want to expand that list to include the XD subcompact or the Kahr Cw9. They've been out for a while and I'm at the point where I hesitate to part with my hard earned cash until I get some positive feedback from some real world reviews. I don't consider gun magazines to be the real world. On the plus side Ruger seems to do a good job of acknowledging and correcting design flaws instead of doing the denial/ostrich thing like some gun companies.

If you are looking for a carry piece, go with a G19. It's a better primary option than the unproven SR9C and subcompacts. Subs have their place, but not a primary. If you are tlaking BUG, than thats a different story. I would consider the Kahr series in that case.

I have not shot the SR9C but I have shot the SR9. I looked for the gritty trigger and I could not find anything I did not like, even an exessively long trigger pull. That SR9C is a looker & with the extended mag it's the about the size of the full sized SR9.

I am not in the market for a new CCW weapon but for some reason the SR9C really appeals to me

Not sure how I missed this thread. I purchased an SR9c for the same price you saw it for the same week you started this thread. After 600 rounds down range I can say i really really like this gun. Its a great shooter and carries extremely well. If you have not made your move yet I can highly recommend this pistol
