Dues-paying, non-active member. I certainly didn't know about the SB308 thing. Strange.

I consider myself a member of the organization, through membership only. Despite the recent shortcomings of the NRA in Georgia, on a national level they are the 800lb gorrilla when it comes to 2A rights. They are the most powerful gun rights organization defending our right to KABA. I do have a NRA sticker on my truck and can care less how anyone feels about it. The NRA is a firearm organization first and then a political group(NRA ILA).

How were you "made to feel" thusly?

bersablack9,

I can defintely relate to your situation, last October I was attending a Glen Beck book signing event at the Barnes & Noble store in North Haven. While yes I was the only face of color in line I didn't get the ooggha bugga vibes from anyone I was standing next to. The nastyness came from a reporter that was working for this liberal rag called the Advocate. It's one of those freebie rags that list at the end of the paper all the sex stuff. Anyway this white reporter out & out says why are you standing in line for a Glen Beck autograph and your black. That really irked my nerves and the some folks I was in line with were a little upset with said reporter, he left right after that. I was feeling a little self-conscense for awhile after that, but I got over it. It just goes to show you that there bone-head, small minded, jack-wagons everywhere.

I'm an active member of the NRA & am considering joining GOA & JFPO too (I believe if i'm going to be an effective 2nd amendment advocate, i might as well work w/& network w/as many pro-gun groups as i can). While I don't necessarily have NRA bumper stickers, caps, shirts, etc, I do selectively engage in conversation w/people in public (without being "pushy", obnoxious, or timid). I try to represent my brothers & sisters as well as possible, because I feel we as gun-owners are responsible for shaping positive public opinion w/o apologies or rhetoric. If we stand up, the hostile anti-gunners will back up! Uncompromising truth, combined w/composure I find to be an unbeatable combination! But just to keep it real, I also recognize that some anti-gun folks will never see the truth of self-defense, despite all of the evidence. I can live w/that, 'cause I will always defend my family & innocent people w/my last ounce of strength.
