Thanks. I plan to join, and use the certificate for a Glock 23. Hope to enter my first match soon, I'm nervous already!
There are several organizations out there [USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, etc.] that you can join and get into competition shooting. I just got into it myself August of 2009, still consider myself as a newbie, have already participated in several local matches, the one Glock match last October and most recently, the annual Western States Single Stack Classic [1911 style firearms] held in late January in Phoenix and had FUN in the process.
Yup, I also had the "willies" my first time out in a match, did poorly but it was a learning experience like anything you try for the first time. You'll get over it after a few times on the shooting range during a match and as time progresses so will your accuracy and confidence! I can't wait for my next competition match [perhaps next Sunday March 14th] up in the Phoenix area.
The wife and I are out here right now in Denver on the wife's business trip and will be here until Saturday morning when we fly back to Tucson. Our flight gets into TIA early morning around 11:30am so I may have time to unpack, get my shooting gear, reload ammo in order and drive up to Phoenix Sunday morning. We'll see.
I have not been to the range since the big match January 30-31st so I may pass over Sunday's match and instead head to the range and get in some practice.
