My EDC has no safety the only firearm that I own with a safety is my 1911 which comes standard on all 1911s. If I got into a bad situation I don't think I would have time to take the thumb safety off. This is why I purposely purchase all of my firearms without a thumb safety. If there is a threat the goal is to pull and shoot.

I see one question. No, my EDC (Glock 27) does not have a thumb safety.

Neither any of my Glocks, or my Kahr has a thumb safety. I'm usually carrying one or the other during the week. From time to time, I do carry my 1911 (cocked and locked, with the safety on) I really don't experience any delay in drawing over my Glocks. The trick is to PRACTICE! Go to range that allows draw and shoot and build up your skill. It would be better to take a fighting pistol class with several different handguns to build up muscle memory and skill with each type. A thumb safety won't get in the way of winning a gun fight if you train to use correctly. Hell, we all would be speaking German if it did. :P

I have a P229 which does not have a safety. Currently, I am carrying my FNP 45 which has a safety. I do have it cocked and locked. Like Trig said, I practice sweeping my thumb across the safety to disengage as I draw.

I carry with a safety on a 1911. Not much if any delay that I've noticed. It's actually part of my grip because my thumb rides the safety anyway as I find that helps in dealing with the recoil. When I grab the gun with intent to shoot it's automatic. Plus with the light single action trigger... there is just no comparison.

My Glock I carry with one in the chamber and of course no thumb safety; My S&W 4516 has a manual slide safety/decocker and I carry it with hammer down and the safety off and with a loaded chamber. It has a loooong trigger pull first shot, so long as its holstered I don't worry about it.

I have had them on some of my other options and did practice disengaging the safety on my draw... Today none of my EDC options have no thumb safeties...

My current EDC does not. When I first started to carry. I had a safety, thumb break holster and it was concealed. I look back now and I am just glad I didn't have to go through the 20 steps to draw my weapon.
