From the NRA-ILA weekly news bulletins I receive in my Inbox:
Can you believe this: __________________________________________________________________________ COLORADO: House Considering "Deny-On-Arrest" Legislation As the sunset period for the "Deny-On-Arrest" legislation approaches, the Colorado House of Representatives is getting ready to hear a bill that would make this archaic law permanent. House Bill 1391 would deny gun purchases to those with an arrest on their record, even if they were never convicted. This deny-on-arrest provision would remove a constitutional right to own a firearm based on an arrest (an accusation), NOT a conviction. Please call members of the committee and respectfully urge ask them to vote against HB 1391 and this unconstitutional attack on the Second Amendment rights of Colorado citizens. __________________________________________________________________________ That means that if you were ever arrested for ANY crime in that state, no matter how petty or insignificant and NOT convicted, and the case was thrown out of court for whatever reason. You would loose all right to purchase a firearm in that state!
Freakin unbelievable!
That means if you piss on a Colorado sidewalk no matter in which county in the state, become loud and abusive on a public bus, get arrested but somehow found not guilty. Get ticketed for a motor vehicle violation of the "criminal intent" [yes, we have same here in Arizona], you get locked up but later found innocent of the infraction.
The mere fact you WERE arrested alone makes you ineligible to buy a firearm...is so ludicrous!! The ONLY reason I am makin' a stink about this is I have family in Colorado and on the few occassions I travel to the state, I do carry where appropriate.
What is UP with these lawmakers in Colorado? I do not usually "cross-post" to another section of the BGO forum but the Hometown section [Colorado] needs to hear and feel my Arizona pain!!
